Minimum Wage Increase

Effective January 1, 2020, Michigan’s minimum wage will increase to $9.65 per hour for regular hourly employees and to $3.67 per hour for tipped employees. Under the law, all tipped employees are guaranteed to make at least the minimum wage. If their tips plus the tipped employee minimum wage does not equal or exceed the regular minimum wage, the employer must pay any shortfall to the employee. Failure to comply results in fines and fees.

Payroll clients, please note that we will be automatically increasing minimum wage employee rates to $9.65/$3.67 effective 01/01/2020.
